°Õ³ó±ðÌýFour-Year Bachelor of Science in NursingÌýis designed for students without nursing college credit. High school graduates and transfer students first apply to the University by using the regular °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Êapp undergraduate admissions application. Students formally apply to the nursing department once all pre-nursing requirements have been met or nearly met. Students need 125 credit hours (59 in general education courses and 66 in nursing courses) to graduate.
°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Êapp's nursing students continue to outpace state and national first-time passage rates on the National Council Licensure Examination, the test all nurses must take to become licensed to work. °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Êapp's NCLEX passage rate for the past five years is 95%, continuing to surpass national and state trends.
°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Êapp's nursing programs prepare students to respond to diverse healthcare needs. Opportunities in a variety of settings position the well-prepared nurse to enhance access to excellent health care for all. One such opportunity is the valuable hands-on lessons during annual travel courses to various destinations like Ghana, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.

- Critical thinking ability sufficient for clinical judgment and cognitive skills to acquire, assimilate, integrate and apply information.

- Sufficient mobility to move from room to room, maneuver in small spaces and move freely and quickly to respond to emergencies and to perform physically taxing, repetitive tasks.

- Visual ability sufficient for observation and assessment necessary for safe effective nursing care.

Clinical Requirements
(prior to starting nursing coursework include, but are not limited to):
- Physical examination
- Immunizations
- Urine drug screen
- Liability insurance
- Background check
- BLS (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers) Certification from an American Heart Association-approved BLS course (adult and infant)
The department will supply information on these items following acceptance to the program. There are fees associated with these requirements. Additional expenses will be incurred for uniforms, equipment, licensure preparation materials and other educational items.
